Penelope Keramitsis | Curriculum Coordinator
Hi, my name is Penelope Keramitsis and I am the Curriculum Coordinator, also known as the Educational Leader at Greythorn.
I arrived at Greythorn just after the rebuilding and expansion of the centre 6 years ago, but my career in the early learning years’ sector started much before that.
I started in early childhood education as a casual educator, floating between classrooms, lending a helping hand and soaking up invaluable experiences while pursuing my university studies. Fast forward to today, I am now a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated educator with over 14 years experience in the sector.
My passions include encouraging children with creative expression, science and mathematics. I believe all children are the protagonists of their learning and are knowledgeable and unique.
I aim to create a place where children feel loved and important. I believe that children are influenced and are affected by their environments, so I am committed to having high expectations for every child’s learning where they can develop socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically. Most days you will find me in the office, however I make it necessary to be present in the classroom as much as possible, guiding educators to uphold an excellent educational curriculum through supportive leadership and collaborative learning.
My background is of Greek heritage which has instilled a deep love for food and cooking. I currently live in Fitzroy at my grandmothers home where my mother was raised which has deep history and sentiment to my family. I am the eldest of three and on the weekends you’ll find me enjoying going to the footy with my family to support the Richmond Tigers at the MCG (and sometimes interstate!)
I love to explore new cultures through travel with my next travel destination being Hawaii! I am also an avid reader and have an extensive collection of shoes and earrings.
